About "A Message From Memphis"

In May of 2010 JEA Right Now Records out of Memphis, TN will release a song entitled "A Message from Memphis". This song will be the result of a collaborative effort from artists and producers, all from Memphis, including Alexis Grace, David Porter, the Bar-Kays, J. Blackfoot, Wendy Moten, and over 35 other Memphis-based recording artists from all genres of music, to express to the victims of the earthquake tragedy in Haiti how much we in Memphis care.

This song is also created in an effort to raise money to be donated to the Red Cross Relief Fund in support of the rebuilding of Haiti. The song will be sold as a single with a DVD companion piece featuring the making of this project, and 100% of the record sales will go toward this charity through an account set up by the city of Memphis. The Memphis Music Commission and the Memphis Music Foundation are also supporting this great effort.

The idea for this project originated from Larry Dodson of the Bar-Kays. He was inspired one Sunday after leaving church to do something that would simply show the world and those victims in Haiti that we in Memphis feel their pain, and want them to know that there is a light at the end of every tunnel. And that they don't have to cry alone.

Thanks again for your contribution to this great relief effort and fund raiser for Haiti.

Sincerly,
Larry Dodson, II
